Butterfly Network has appointed Victor Ku as its senior VP and chief technology officer (CTO). He will join the company in late September and lead its global technology strategy, product development, and innovation roadmap.

Ku boasts over two decades of leadership experience in regulated, industrial, and high-tech environments. He has led and scaled global engineering organizations in the U.S., Europe, and Asia to deliver advanced imaging systems that integrate embedded IoT, AI-based analytics, and complex sensor technologies.

He was most recently VP of R&D, Engineering, and PMO at Headwall Photonics, where he led development of hyperspectral imaging products for remote sensing, machine vision, and precision agriculture. Prior leadership roles include senior positions at Teledyne FLIR and EFI, where he oversaw global teams delivering hardware-software integrated platforms.

“Victor’s deep expertise in semiconductor-based imaging and his proven ability to scale global product development make him a perfect fit for Butterfly’s next phase of growth,” said Joseph DeVivo, President and CEO of Butterfly Network. “His leadership will be instrumental as we continue advancing our mission to democratize medical imaging and improve clinical outcomes around the world.”

Last week, the company shared its role in new research demonstrating the potential for machine learning models to support early aortic stenosis detection using handheld ultrasound devices.
